Courage to Change
In celebration of our 20th anniversary of providing treatment services to individuals in the community, the Dilworth Center proudly presented the first Wallace Godfrey Courage to Change Scholarship Award in 2010. This award is presented each year to a professional in the field who has dedicated their career to serving alcoholics, addicts and their families, as well as anyone else affected by substance use disorders. In recognition of the award recipient’s efforts and commitment to changing lives for the better, a scholarship for treatment at the Dilworth Center is given to an individual in need of services who would otherwise not be able to afford treatment on their own.
The Courage to Change Scholarship Award was named in honor and recognition of long-time Dilworth Center employee, Wallace Godfrey. Wallace was the Director of Special Programs, and head of our adolescent treatment program. He was employed with the Dilworth Center for over 13 years and worked in substance use disorder treatment for over 25 years. During the course of his career, Wallace helped countless alcoholics and addicts change their lives for the better. His unique style and talents came as a result of his extensive training and personal experience. Because he made a positive impact on so many lives, we proudly named our Courage to Change Scholarship Award after Wallace.
