Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Treatment

Our 18-week adolescent treatment program delivers effective substance use disorder treatment while allowing participants and their families to continue their work, school, and home routines.

Healthy support by both adults and peers throughout the process is an essential component of recovery. Adolescents prosper in recovery more often when their home lives and social lives, as well as school and work environments, are supportive of their recovery goals.

Treatment Schedule

Following a thorough assessment involving parents or guardians and the patient, a preliminary treatment plan is developed and the patient is given an orientation to the treatment process. Once treatment begins, all involved parents or guardians attend a treatment orientation session followed by weekly attendance at family program sessions.

Core Components

Disease Education

The dynamics of addiction and the recovery process itself is described in detail through over 24 speakers and interactive presentations. Patients will learn about the disease of addiction, post-acute withdrawal, how to enjoy being in recovery, how addiction affects family systems, and other recovery related topics.

Family Program

Family participation in treatment is encouraged, and at times required. Family members and significant others are involved in education and group therapy on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. Additionally, involvement in Al-Anon or Nar-Anon is strongly encouraged.

Group Therapy

Group therapy sessions provide a climate where bonding with other recovering people can take place. New learning and behaviors are practiced, and feelings are shared. Group therapy allows patients and family members to realize they are not alone in their struggles.

One-On-One Counseling

Individual counseling sessions are part of the treatment process and frequency is dependent on the needs of each individual patient. Individual sessions also allow patients to develop and accomplish treatment goals and to focus on specific issues regarding their progression in the treatment process.

Mental Health

We take mental health conditions very seriously. Our medical director is board certified in addiction psychiatry and recognized throughout the industry for his treatment of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. He is available to patients, when needed.

12 Step Groups

We know that 12 step meeting participation in addition to treatment attendance greatly improves outcomes. 12 step groups are a core part of recovery. Active participation in these programs is an essential and critical component of on-going recovery. The frequency of meeting attendance is determined by each patient’s individualized treatment plan.

12 Step Work

Patients are guided through the first three steps of the 12 Steps of AA and NA with the help of work booklets, group therapy, and AA or NA sponsors. Through this process, young people learn that they can only control or change themselves and their reactions to others and situations in their lives.

Attaining and Developing Non - Chemical Coping Skills

Interruption of the maturation process is a common result of addiction. We address this with education and support that results in the healthy development of effective, non-chemical coping skills. Our staff helps patients and family members explore methods and interventions that foster the discipline and responsibility necessary for successful treatment.

Peer Influence

Peers, including treatment alumni and members of the recovering community, offer powerful and positive influences on patients. Recovering peer mentors lend support and encouragement in addition to helping facilitate various therapeutic activities, such as AA/NA book studies.
